The Island's Historical Archives

We invite you to take a deep dive into Mare Island history at our extensive library and archives, chronicling the incredible history of Mare Island through thousands of photographs and plans, extensive clipping files and records by subject, the complete collection of the Mare Island “Grapevine” (Shipyard newsletter), and much, much more.

Library Hours

The library is open to the public Wednesdays and Saturdays 10AM-2PM.

Getting to the Library

The library is located at 1175 Nimitz, the two story blue building across the entrance from Island Dry Docks, Suite 170 (best to park and enter the first floor from the south side, parking at Factory O/S parking lot).
